Client-side script execution via crafted filename
Published Jun 22, 2021 · Updated Aug 7, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Vanilla Forums before 2.0.10 allows remote attackers to execute script via a crafted filename. The application renders an attacker-controlled filename into a client-side page without neutralizing executable markup. Execution requires a user to view the affected page; the script runs in the forum origin and can read or alter browser-accessible data.
