Code execution via unchecked .dwb parser copy
Published Aug 21, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in VariCAD EN 2010-2.05 and earlier allows attackers to execute code when a user opens a crafted .dwb file. The .dwb parser uses memcpy on attacker-controlled file data without validating its length, overflowing the stack and overwriting exception-handler records. Exploitation requires a user to open the file in the application and runs arbitrary code with that user's privileges.
