Unauthenticated file disclosure via locale path traversal
Published Aug 21, 2025 · Updated May 26, 2026
Path traversal in Barracuda Networks gateway products allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files without authentication. The view_help.cgi endpoint uses the locale parameter as a file path without rejecting traversal sequences or null-byte terminators, so a crafted request escapes the intended help-content directory. Affected SSL VPN and Web Application Firewall builds predate October 2010, while Email Security Gateway 4.1.1.021 and earlier can disclose configuration snapshots containing credentials and network settings.
