Arbitrary code execution via oversized LIST filename
Published Aug 21, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Rocket Software Seagull FTP Client 3.3 Build 409 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The FTP directory listing parser accepts an excessively long filename from a LIST response without validating its length, overflowing a stack buffer and overwriting the SEH chain. Exploitation requires the client to connect to an attacker-controlled FTP server and process its crafted listing, enabling code execution in the client user's context.
