Account impersonation via unchanged login session identifier
Published Jun 21, 2021 · Updated Aug 7, 2024
Session fixation in Joomla! CMS 1.5.0 through 1.5.15 allows remote attackers to hijack user sessions through a preset cookie. The core login flow authenticates the existing session identifier instead of regenerating it after credentials are accepted. Exploitation requires a remote site to plant a chosen cookie and the victim to follow the redirect and log in; the attacker then reuses that cookie with the victim's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
