Remote code execution via oversized LIST filename
Published Aug 20, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Odin Secure FTP Expert 4.1 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute code via an FTP LIST reply. The client copies an oversized directory-listing filename into a fixed-size stack buffer, overwriting its Structured Exception Handler record. A user must connect the client to an attacker-controlled FTP server; merely connecting is sufficient, although exploitation sometimes requires two connections.
