Arbitrary code execution via oversized URL copy
Published Aug 30, 2025 · Updated May 25, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Green Dam Youth Escort 3.17 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted URL. The injected SurfGd.dll URL filter copies an overlong request address into a fixed-length stack buffer without adequate bounds checking. A user must visit attacker-controlled content; the resulting stack corruption can crash the browser or redirect execution with the browser process's privileges.
