Remote code execution via oversized IRC response
Published Sep 16, 2025 · Updated Sep 16, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Infiero Premium Software Talkative IRC 0.4.4.16 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code. The IRC response handler accepts an oversized server-supplied prefix into fixed stack storage; public exploits use 272 filler bytes to reach and overwrite SEH. A client must connect to an attacker-controlled IRC server, and resulting code executes with the vulnerable client process's rights.
