Arbitrary code execution via crafted project file
Published Aug 21, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in gAlan 0.2.1 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code by having a user open a crafted .galan file. The .galan file parser accepts overlong input without validating its length, allowing the data to overwrite a stack buffer. Successful exploitation requires local user interaction and runs code with the privileges of the user who opens the file.
