Browser script execution via unencoded login username
Published Mar 28, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Cross-site scripting in Hermstedt StingRay File Transfer Server allows remote attackers to inject script through the login username field. The unauthenticated /login.jsp form submits form_username to /verify_login.jsp, which embeds the supplied value between H3 tags without HTML encoding. A victim must view the resulting response for the injected script to run in the browser, and the affected login page is intended for the internal interface.
